Born in Chicago, Illinois, Nick Medina has degrees in organizational and multicultural communication, and has worked as a college communnications instructor. He has had short stories published in various fiction outlets since 2009. An enthusiast of local and Native lore, his debut novel, , features several supernatural myths and legends. He became interested in the problem of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls after reading an article in the about Ashley Loring Heavyrunner, who went missing from the Blackfoot reservation in 2017.
