Veronica Winters

Native of Russia, Veronica Winters was born in 1976. She spent her childhood living in Zelenograd, a suburb of Moscow known for its electronic industry. Veronica always thought of herself as an artist sketching and writing in her journal and making crafts for youth art fairs in her childhood. With the collapse of the Soviet Union Veronica pursued her B.A. degree in Management from Zelenograd Business College, a joint venture of the Moscow Institute of Electronic Engineering and the University of Tulsa. In 1995-1996 Veronica was awarded a full-ride scholarship to study at the University of Tulsa, OK for half a year. She immigrated to the United States in 1997. Only in the United States Veronica could fully explore her artistic abilities. In 2003, she completed her B.F.A. in Studio Art at the Oklahoma State University. It was a complicated phase in Veronica's life because she had to commit to two opposite jobs: caring for her little child and working on her art simultaneously. She commuted to school for 90 minutes one-way for two years, working on her degree. From the very beginning colored pencil was Veronica's medium of choice. Her colored pencil has always displayed astonishing detail and vivid color. In 2005, Veronica completed her M.F.A. in painting at the Pennsylvania State University. Interested in traditional oil painting techniques, between 2007 and 2012 Veronica studied part-time at the Art Students League of New York and the Grand Central Academy of Art.Currently Veronica is a full-time artist living in Naples, FL. She teaches art in her studio, at Collier Adult Community Education of Naples, and the Von Liebig Art Center. She previously worked with Galaxy, Artist-in-Residence Program and the Art Alliance of Central Pennsylvania. In her spare time the artist loves reading, traveling and shooting pictures, some of which become subjects for her artwork.
