About the Author
In most of her childhood pictures, author Sonja Hakala is holding a book. When she moved to northern New England, she started her writing career in earnest including a regular stint at a newspaper and lots of work in magazines.After three years as the marketing manager for a book publishing company in Vermont, other writers started approaching Sonja to ask how to publish their own books. As a result, Sonja added publishing professional to her resume, using her graphic design skills and editorial experience in a company she named Full Circle Press to help other writers get their work into print.Her own book career was launched in 2007 when she edited a hardcover collection of stories written by quilters in the U.S. and Canada. From American Patchwork (published by St.Martin's Press), Sonja went on to write two how-to quilt books for beginners for Wiley Publishing, Teach Yourself Visually Quilting and Visual Quick Tips Quilting.Now Sonja has put together her publishing experience in Your Book, Your Way so that writers of all skill levels can learn more about the publishing business, and choose the very best option for their own books and their own careers.In the summer of 2011, Sonja will publish her first history mystery, Exposure, starring the very real Nellie Bly.
