Writer & performer Barry Yourgrau is the author of the memoir Mess: One Man's Struggle to Clean Up His House and His Act. His distinctive books of surreal short fictions include Wearing Dad's Head and The Sadness of Sex, in whose film version he starred. He's appeared on MTV and NPR, written for the NY Times, New Yorker.com, Huffington Post, Paris Review, and VICE. Born in South Africa, he came to the US as a child. He lives in New York and Istanbul.
