Maureen Sherry

Maureen Sherry was born in New York City. She graduated from both Cornell and Columbia Universities and went on to work on Wall Street, retiring as a managing director after twelve years. She used her extra time to ply her four young children with fantastic stories on a more regular basis and became adept at all things action-figured, sugary, mysterious and pink. Maureen now tutors at inner city schools and writes fictional stories based on little known facts. Walls Within Walls--her first book, a mystery for middle school audiences--has been awarded curriculum prizes by the states of Texas and Connecticut, and she was named one of the Best New Voices by the American Library Association.Opening Belle, her first adult novel, is a 'compulsively readable' take on a woman working in a man's world and the the high price she pays to earn an exorbitant income. Opening Belle has been optioned for a movie and Reese Witherspoon is slated to star. Maureen is an active board member of numerous charities. She maintains an impressive collection of listless neighborhood kids and orphaned mittens. She can often be found standing on her hands.
