About the Author

Edward Ugel

I was born in New York, NY and raised in the suburbs of Washington, DC. I graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a B.A in Film Studies.I spent my late twenties and early thirties working amongst some of the nations most infamous gamblers and lottery winners. My folks were so proud.I left the finance world in early 2006 and began writing full time.My first book, the critically acclaimed memoir, Money for Nothing: One Man's Journey Through the Dark Side of Lottery Millions (Collins) was released in September, 2007.In 2007, Money for Nothing was featured on This American Life with Ira Glass.I have also written for The New York Times, Washingtonian Magazine, and The Huffington Post where I write about business, pop-culture, media, politics, and gambling.I live in Bethesda, Maryland, with my wife and two daughters in a house with a well-used but drafty kitchen.
