About this item

"Tell me the story about when I was inside you, Mama." A lot of exciting things happened while this little girl was waiting to be born. Mama's belly was so big Daddy had to lean over to give hugs. Pictures were taken with a special camera, names were being chosen -- everyone was happy preparing for the birth. And when it finally did happen, it was what everyone had been waiting for. The union of Deb Lund's sweet text and Hiroe Nakata's gentle illustrations will delight, in this celebration of every child's unique birth story.

Deb Lund

Deb Lund is the author of MONSTERS ON MACHINES, DINOSAILORS, ALL ABOARD THE DINOTRAIN, DINOSOARING, and other books for children. She can ride a unicycle and juggle (though not at the same time) , and she's a popular presenter at schools, bookstores, libraries, and conferences. An upper middle-grade novel, an adult novel, and a book on teaching writing are among her current projects. Deb is a creativity coach, writing teacher, and continuing education instructor for writing teachers at www.hol.edu. She's been a classroom and music teacher, a librarian, a school founding director, and in case you didn't figure it out yet, she's passionate about supporting writers, education, and the arts.

If you're a writer, you'll want to check out Deb's 54-card deck and guidebook, FICTION MAGIC: CARD TRICKS & TIPS FOR WRITERS. With card "tricks" (prompts that help intensify the tension in your stories) and "tips" (suggestions to help relieve the tension in your writing life) , FICTION MAGIC is part craft lessons and part creativity coaching. It's like having two decks in one. And if you want to see more progress on your projects, you'll want to talk with Deb about being your coach.

Thanks to her many interests and a trio of teens, Deb is an expert at creating in the middle of chaos. She and her husband, Karl Olsen of The Brothers Four, live with their remarkable kids and obedient schnauzer on Whidbey Island in Washington state, where it seems everyone is an artist of some kind.

You can contact Deb and learn more about her at www.deblund.com.
