About this item

(In Hindi, with English subtitles) This Indian production is different from the usual Bollywood movies, having none of the trappings of glitzy costumes and big song-and-dance production numbers, while it does have a kind of warped sense of humor that just borders on offensive, yet isn’t.  Nothing ever happens in Angie’s small town in Goa.  She and her Auntie Rosie get by well enough, but both long for more – more spark, more adventure, more love, more life.  When their aged mailman, Ferdie, finds a letter that was supposed to be sent decades before to the love of his life, Angie persuades him to go on a road trip of discovery.  What happened to Fanny, his true love?  Did she pine for Ferdie as he has longed for her all these years?  Does she still love him?  These are questions that can be answered only by Fanny herself. So, off they go, Rosie, Ferdie, and Angie, along with a roué of a local artist, who claims he wants to paint scenes on the road but really wants to flirt with Auntie Rosie.  A local car mechanic will serve as driver.  He may also be a potential love interest to Angie.  Oh, and a cat accompanies them for at least part of the way.  The story wanders along like the trip itself, through the beautiful countryside of Goa, where the five misfits encounter obstacles, complications, some sorrows, and not a few laughs.  Finding Fanny may not be the point of this trip after all.  As Angie says, “It’s always day somewhere.  Sometimes you just have to find it...” whatever that means.
