(In German, with English subtitles) This odd little movie takes a look at spouse abuse, that is, abuse upon the male spouse by the female.  We follow Dominik, a perfectly wonderful man, maybe a little on the shy side, who meets, falls in love with, and marries a woman, who at first is kind and sweet herself.  She quickly turns into a monster, abusing him through words or maybe a slap with a bunch of spring onions in the grocery store.  His humiliation and suffering send him at last to a shelter for abused men, who offer support for each other through talk and commiseration.  Since Dominik’s wife’s motives for her actions remain unknown to us, she comes off as a cardboard character, more psychotic than realistic.  The humor is a bit strained, but this is something of a comedy, with a happy ending and all that.  The German title, by the way, is eMANNzipation, in case you didn’t get it.
