About this item

What it creates, love can also destroy. That much is clear in Two Women, as love and desire forge and raze relationships on a lush Russian estate. This adaptation of Ivan Turgenev's play A Month in the Country centers around the lovely Natalya as she seeks passion outside a lackluster marriage. Though dashing Mikhail (Ralph Fiennes) couldn't be more different from her wealthy older husband, Natalya spurns his attempts at flirtation. Instead she's darkly drawn to her son's young tutor Aleksei, and she's not the only one. Her teenage stepdaughter Vera is smitten as well, and the two women find themselves ensnared in a complex web of unrequited love, guilt, lust and jealousy whose consequences will shake their world to its core. Russian with English subtitles.
