Richard Thompson

Richard Thompson's illustrations have appeared in the Washington Post, U.S. News & World Report, the New Yorker, National Geographic, and the Atlantic Monthly. He has gotten a lot of illustration and cartooning awards, including the National Cartoonists Society's Reuben Award for Cartoonist of the Year, the NCS awards for Magazine and Book Illustration Award and the and the Milton F. "Sonny" Clogg Award for Alumnus of the Year from Montgomery College, a 2-year college he attended for 2 1/2 years but failed to graduate from. He is also the creator of Richard's Poor Almanac, a cartoon that ran weekly in the Washington Post, and confused readers for 12 years. . He announced in 2009 that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, and has since helped rally other cartoonists and illustrators to contribute to the Team Cul de Sac project to benefit the Michael J. Fox Foundation. In September 2012, Thompson retired from creating Cul de Sac.
