(In Danish, with English subtitles) I wondered why this Danish TV police procedural series seemed different.  For one, the victims were not always women murdered in some gruesome way, which seems to be an essential characteristic of Scandinavian mysteries (a lot of American ones too).  The victims were varied and the stories unfolded in more realistic ways.  Then I found out that the stories were based on real crime case files.  Ah…Anyway, this series involves a crime unit headed by a recently appointed woman, when the former head of the department and his house guest are murdered.  Ingrid is at first not entirely trusted or even liked by the staff whose members have otherwise worked well together for years.  But gradually they grow to trust her and learn to work with her on case after intriguing case.  If you like this series, HCPL has two more sets of episodes for your viewing pleasure.
