All Music Guide - Mark Deming In 1996, Irish-born Patrick Murphy formed a band to play at the Celtic-themed pub where he worked in Santa Monica, California. A year later, Murphy's band was hired to play the Irish band performing for the steerage passengers in the blockbuster movie Titanic, and soon Gaelic Storm grew from being a promising local act to a group with international recognition, winning fans with their full-bodied blend of Celtic folk, world music, and contemporary folk-rock.
