About this item

(In Hebrew and German, with English subtitles) In this documentary, Yael Reuveny navigates a dark period of her family’s past to uncover a mystery from her grandmother’s generation.  In Vilna, during World War II, young Michla, Reuveny’s grandmother, and her family were rounded up and sent off to camps by the Germans.  Michla and her brother Feiv’ke promised that if they were separated and if they survived, they would meet in Vilna after peace rested once more on the land.  When the war ended, though, matters took a much different turn.  Michla, thinking her brother was lost to her, settled finally in Palestine.  But what had happened to Feiv’ke?  Had he died?  Many years later, granddaughter Yael starts a journey of discovery of what happened to Feiv’ke Schwarz.  What she discovers does not bring peace of mind to her grandmother but forces a chasm to grow within her family, one that will take much to bridge.
