AJ Johnston is an Alt-Country singer/songwriter out of Amarillo, TX. He is Combat deployed Army Paratrooper, with an above knee amputation lost while serving. His injury and experiences lead to a thirst for life, and a high energy performance! His band has opened for some of the biggest names in the Texas Country/Red Dirt scene (Casey Donahew, Kevin Fowler, Charlie Robison, Zane Williams, etc...) , and they have played some amazing, top venues. His songwriting is influenced by heartbreak, people's stories, and personal experiences. Songs like " Aged Rodeo", stemmed from real life experiences as a former bull rider; and "Flag Draped Box" is influenced from his experiences in Afghanistan, and the men he served with. He is influenced by Texas country/red dirt classics, with a hint of edgy punk rock roots.
