About this item

When her mom runs away from home, Rachel is left behind with her emotionally distant father and many questions she cannot answer. Over time, she learns the truth about her mom. But it's only when she learns the truth about her dad, the rock- immoveable and always there for her to lean on-that Rachel can move toward understanding. Every word rings true in this achingly real novel in verse.Reviews"Written in a straightforward language, the text clearly reveals Rachel's emotions, describing moments both painful and reassuring."-School Library Journal"I have delayed writing about this book because I wanted to be sure my librarian friends were back in acquisition mode and ready to add this book to your B & T, Follet, or Mackin book order right now.

About the Author

Susan Taylor Brown

I'm an author and dreamer. I'm an only child and I share a birthday with Ernest Hemingway and Robin Williams. I'm a full-blown introvert who has learned how to fake being an extrovert when I need to and my moods can change from up to down and back again before you know it. I write a lot of things but mostly books for children. I believe in wishing on stars and second chances and that everyone has the power to make their dreams come true, as long as they're willing to do the work.I am also a mixed-media artist who loves working in collage and making books to house my own words.I have two grown children, one grandson, and my husband and I live in the Silicon Valley where we happily share space with our very spoiled German Shepherd. When I'm not writing I spend time working in my garden which has been converted to a wildlife habitat filled with California Native Plants.
