About this item

How does your garden grow? Book-loving Lola is inspired by a collection of garden poems that she reads with her mommy. She wants to plant her own garden of beautiful flowers, so she and Mommy go to the library to check out books about gardening. They choose their flowers and buy their seeds. They dig and plant. And then they wait. Lola finds it hard to wait for her flowers to grow, but she spends the time creating her own flower book. Soon she has a garden full of sunflowers and invites all of her friends for cakes and punch and a story amongst the flowers.. Lola is a beloved character that continues to shine for young readers. Her curiosity and love of books is infectious. Parents and children love sharing Lolas stories.. Rosalind Beardshaws beautiful illustrations highlight Lolas close-knit family and how they use stories and books to interact with their world. Lolas brightly colored and growing garden is the perfect surrounding for this bright little girl.

About the Author

Anna McQuinn

I feel lucky to have a life 100% dedicated to books - I write and edit stories for little kids and their families.I'm best known as the author of the series about Lulu and Zeki (in the UK) or Lola and Leo (in the US) , though I've written over 25 picture books. I work hard to make the language appropriate for the age group AND the country it's being published in, so please make sure you order the Leo/Lola books if you're in the US or Canada, the Lulu/Zeki books if you're in the UK and Ireland. I've tried to update incorrect information on the book pages but it's a slow process. My books are published by Alanna Max (UK) , Charlesbridge (US) , Barefoot Books, Chicken House/Scholastic, Little Tiger, Annick Press (Canada) , O'Brien Press (Ireland) , Glbburi and Froebel (Korea) , Forlaget Arvids (Denmark) , Pallas Editora (Brazil) , EPIX (Sweden) and ICP (China) .
